Staff Council Election 2024
The Electoral Board has the task of duly organising the early election of the Staff Council required under Section 23(1)(2) of the Lower Saxony Staff Representation Act (NPersVG).
We would like to point out that all announcements made by the election committee in accordance with Section 2 (1) sentence 1 number 2 of the Election Regulations for Staff Councils in the State of Lower Saxony (WO-PersV) are published exclusively in digital form on this website of the election committee and made available electronically. New announcements will be notified by e-mail.
Explanations about the election
Dear colleagues
The early election of the Staff Council will take place on 17 and 18 June 2024.
The election committee hereby announces the election notice, which is available on the election committee's website (https://uol.de/pr-wahl), and invites, among other things, the submission of election proposals.
What or who will be elected?
The 15 members of the Staff Council are elected. Of these, two members are civil servants and 13 members are employees.
Who is eligible to vote?
All persons employed at the University within the meaning of Section 4 of the Lower Saxony Staff Representation Act (NPersVG), regardless of the extent of their employment, can vote.
Under Section 105 of the NPersVG, professors, junior professors, university lecturers, persons charged with administering a professorship, honorary professors, contract lecturers, visiting academics and student assistants cannot vote in this election.
You must be listed in the electoral register to vote. The electoral register can be viewed from Monday to Thursday between 9:00 am and 12:00 am at the Division 1 office (Building V01, Ammerländer Heerstraße 114-118, Room V01 2-216).
When and where exactly can I cast my vote?
Voting in person is possible
on Tuesday, 18 June 2024, from 9:00 to 15:00 in building W01-W04, on the ring level in section W03 (Wechloy campus) and
on Wednesday, 19 June 2024, 9:00 to 15:00 in the lecture hall of the library (Haarentor campus).
If you are unable to vote on election day, you can apply for a postal vote. The application for postal voting documents should be received by the electoral board by 7 June 2024 at the latest to ensure that you receive the requested documents in time. Special note for those entitled to vote at the Wilhelmshaven site (ICBM/Terramare) and for employees of the Jade University sites in Wilhelmshaven and Elsfleth:
On the basis of Section 21 of the Election Regulations for Staff Representatives in the State of Lower Saxony (WO-PersVG), the election committee has ordered postal voting. A separate application is therefore only required if the election documents are not to be sent to the official address. However, it is still possible to vote in person even if postal voting has been ordered.
